Sunday Breakfast

Crumble is probably one of the easiest things to make and can easily be made with apples, pears, rhubarb or berries. On Sundays I usually crave sweet things in the morning, so a couple of weeks ago we decided to make a berry crumble for breakfast!
This recipe is adapted from Jamie Oliver by adding spelt, berries and a good drizzle of cinnamon.

          For the crumble
            225 g spelt flour
            90 g caster sugar
            1 pinch salt
            1 teaspoon cinnamon
            115 g unsalted butter

         For the filling
           Approx 400g mixed red berries
           2 tablespoons honey
           2 tablespoons caster sugar

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

Stir the spelt together with the salt, sugar and cinnamon.

Cut the butter into small cubes and with your hands mix the flour and the butter together until you have a dough that looks like breadcrumbs.

Next take a bowl and pour the berries, honey and caster sugar and stir. Drizzle the crumble on top and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the crumble is golden and the berries are bubbling.
